Dublin Little League February 2021 Newsletter

Hello Dublin Little League Families!

It’s already February, and we have a lot of information to share with you. Please read through this email, and if you have any questions, reach out to us at [email protected].

Season Update

Things are looking good for a real baseball season! The board has been working diligently to prepare from ordering uniforms and equipment, planning evaluations and setting teams, and scheduling practices and games. We can’t wait to see everyone back on the fields.

Lower division families, you will be notified of your team by the end of February, and practices will begin after daylight savings. Games will begin April 10th, and the season runs through the end of June.

Upcoming Training Clinics

The free clinics we offered in January had such an incredible turnout that we have decided to offer a couple of additional ones! See below and save the date:

Coaches Trainings

Sunday 02/21 @ 9am

Fallon Softball Fields:

All-Division Level Training for Coaches and Assistants. We are pleased to have Dublin High coaches and players facilitating the training, and will be going over baseball fundamentals that begin in TeeBall and carry on to the high school level.

Pitching/Catching Clinic

Sunday 02/28 @ 9am

Fallon Softball Fields:

AA Division Level and above, Lower Division coaches/assistants only; learning pitching and catching drills/skills.

If the upper division coaches would like to bring 1-2 of their own players (mainly catchers), that is also encouraged.

A separate sign up will be sent out for these, so stay tuned please.

Umpires

We are always looking for responsible youth (12+) and adult umpires to oversee games throughout the season. Home Plate Umpires and Base Umpires are paid for each game depending on the division and game they umpire as well as plate or base position. Umpires for the spring season will need to complete an online and in-person umpire training prior to the begin of the season.  Contact our Umpire In Chief Anthony for more information [email protected].

Fields Crew

The fields crew is looking for more members!  This is a great way to get involved with the league and the board, especially if you're a parent/coach in our lower divisions.  Field Crew responsibilities are: helping to maintain the tri-valley's finest fields during our spring, summer and fall seasons, maintaining batting cages, working fields into game shape when there is rain, offseason projects and more.  It is a really great group and we have a lot of fun!

Contact Brian Blotzer at [email protected] if you are interested in joining us!

Also, the Fields crew will be holding a field prep clinic on Sunday, 2/28, from 8:30-9:30 of Fallon Field F. Save the date!

Snack Bar

The snack bar will be open soon, and everyone is welcome to volunteer! We are always looking for more members to help open, close, stock, and run the snack bar. It’s a great way to get involved with the league and have fun! If you are interested in joining, please reply to this email.

Additional Training Tools for “At-Home”

We are pleased to announce that we are continuing our partnership with Big Al, and we have also partnered with Saint Mary’s College this year.  BIg Al is for all ages, but geared towards the younger divisions.  St. Mary’s is also for all ages, but geared toward the older divisions.

St. Mary’s and Dublin LL are pleased to announce the launch of Diamond University, a free 20-week development program designed to arm players with skills that will help them succeed on and off the field!  Beginning February 15th, participants will receive a weekly video email from the Gaels with coaching tips, life lessons from sport, or high school/college success preparation.  Development is a pillar of Saint Mary’s baseball, and we are thrilled to be able to share our culture of personal development with the local baseball community.

Access to the Diamond University program by signing up for free with the link below!

See you soon, and Go Gaels!

The coaching programs include…videos on how to teach the skills, lots of drills to incorporate into your practices and help in identifying and correcting common mistakes. There are ready-to-go practice plans for the pre-season, during the season plus plans to help prepare for the postseason. The strategy section covers positional play and roles and responsibilities of players in game situations.  It also has tips and plans to help you be effective as a coach on game day.  Big Al has designed this Coaching programs to help you from the start of a Little League season to the finish.

The parent programs include… videos and instruction on all of the skills that your coach will be teaching this year.   It also includes lots of fun drills, games and challenges that you can practice at home so you can get stronger and improve your skills all season long.  There is also a section on strategy with roles and responsibilities for every player on the team in a variety of game situations.  Every player in the Major Leagues has a story about practicing and playing the game with their buddies away from the ballpark and at home…that is how you can become the best player you can be.

Big Al is adding a series of “Backyard Baseball Workouts” for players and parents to do at home.  They will be uploaded soon, in the “Practice at Home” section of your Parent membership.  Take advantage of the workout videos, the drills, and fun challenges and games that are available to you for every skill at your level!
