2021 Summer All-Stars and Tournament Team Info

Hello Families of I'm sending out this email on behalf of the 2021 Dublin LL Post-Season Committee...

The Summer baseball season is right around the corner and it provides an opportunity for our players to represent Dublin Little League in competitive tournaments against other neighboring leagues.  Summer tournaments will begin approximately mid-June and conclude by the end of July.  Being selected for a post-season team is an honor and an important commitment for both the players and the parents.

The post-season teams for Dublin Little League will be divided into four main age groups and two tiers of competition level at each age group, and under rare circumstances any age group may contain multiple ages:

  • Age groups
    • 12U: players on a 12U team must be league age 12 per Little League Age Chart
    • 11U: players on a 11U team must be league age 11 per Little League Age Chart
    • 10U: players on a 10U team must be league age 10 per Little League Age Chart
    • 9U: players on a 9U team must be league age 9, 8, or 7 per Little League Age Chart
  • Competition Tiers at each age
    • District All-Star Teams (aka Gold Teams): 12 team, 11 team, 10 team, and Gold 9U team
    • Tournament Teams (aka Green Teams): 12 team, 11 team, 10 team, and 9U team. We will only be able to field these teams if we have enough registrations.
  • Note: to participate a player must be Little League age 7 or older. A player should also be in AA or higher to participate during summer 2021 or be in single-A but have shown during the season that they have skills equivalent to AA players. Single-A players chosen will join their respective team once the Single-A season is complete.

The District All-Star teams (aka Gold Teams) will represent Dublin Little League in officially sanctioned Little League tournaments.  The tournaments are very competitive; the competition level of these tournaments is significantly higher than what is seen in regular season play.  The starting point for the District All-Star teams is the District 57 tournament.  For the District 12U All-Star team, the Little League tournaments culminate in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.  For the District 11U and 10U All-Star teams, the Little League tournaments conclude with the Northern California Division tournaments.  In addition to the Little League tournaments, the District All-Star teams will also compete in local tournaments.

The Tournament teams provide players an opportunity to compete at a slightly lower level of competition than the District All-Star teams.  The tournament teams will compete in local tournaments where competition levels will be a little higher than what is seen in regular season play.  In addition to 12U, 11U, and 10U tournament teams, Dublin Little League will also form a 9U-year-old tournament team.  This tournament team provides an excellent opportunity to introduce our younger players to competitive tournament play.

The selection process for the post-season will begin in the late April to early May time frame and the post-season rosters will be officially announced between May 16th and June 1st, 2021.  Selection to a post-season team will be based on spring manager ballot, post-season evaluation, and post-season committee input.  The District All-Star teams will be assembled first followed by the tournament teams.  Players selected to the post-season teams (both Gold and Green) will be provided equipment for the tournaments which includes jerseys, hats, practice shirts, equipment bags, and may include additional items.

To be eligible for the post-season selection process, players/parents must complete the online post-season commitment form:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeup_q8D4kdptrU_h6ljLulaJ-AIRUmuizGvSxyCODcxp7_ww/viewform?usp=sf_link  by 05/02/20201.  The fee to participate on a post-season team varies based on the number of tournaments that the team is able to enter, but this year's estimate is around $250 per player, as well as each family is asked to volunteer at least 4 hours to our summer efforts (snack bar, Dublin tournament help, etc.). The fee will be used to cover uniforms, tournament fees for at least 3 tournaments, post-season equipment, and field rentals for practice. If a team chooses to participate in more than 3 tournaments, then the additional tournament fees will be split evenly among each player.  Final cost, if over $250, will be announced prior to team selection to allow families to opt out. Managers and Team Parents will collect summer registration fees as well as track volunteer time. Volunteer time will help support the Summer tournaments that Dublin will be hosting.  These tournaments help provide us with revenue to keep our summer, fall and spring costs low, as well as helping to showcase how Dublin is the premier league in our district.

The All-Star tournaments will be double elimination tournaments that will run for 2 weeks sometime in the period of June 19- July 11.  100% attendance for the District All Star tournament is required to be on the All-Star team, unless there is prior approval to miss part of the tournament.  Any family unexpectedly missing part of the All-Star tournament due to pre-planned vacation may be removed from the team and the registration forfeited.

Gold (non-district tournaments) and Green Team tournaments will run from Saturdays through Thursdays most weeks during the summer.  Teams will play 3 games on Saturday and Sunday in a round robin format, and then the top teams will be chosen to play out a championship bracket beginning Monday with the championship game potentially being Thursday.

The first non-All-Star tournament will be the week of 6/12-6/18 for our 9/8/7 Team, and then non-All-Star tournaments for all other ages begin the following week and run as late as the week of 7/24-7/30.  Leagues are finalizing the tournament hosting schedule, which we will communicate out once final.

Commitment level is high for summer play, as teams can play 3-7 games per week and also have practices during the week.  Although attendance for non-All-Star tournaments is not required to be 100%, any player missing games or practices may cause their team to underperform during that tournament.
