Hello Dublin Little League Families,

 

Posting this update to keep you all informed and updated on our spring season.

 

The Dublin Little League Executive Board of Directors held a remote meeting last night discussing the current environment and what impact it will have on the spring season as well as to discuss various scenarios for when we are able to resume practices and games. 

 

We are optimistic that once the shelter in place is over, we will be able to make up the missed games and get in a full season. Ultimately, we are at the fate of the government and will have to follow their mandates, but our league’s ultimate goal is simple…let the kids play baseball.

 

The City of Dublin has closed all fields for practices and games through April 7^th. With spring break running from April 4^th to April 12^th, that would put us back on the fields officially on April 13^th. We will use the city field status as a main filter for determining when we can restart the season. If the city opens the fields, then we can assume the government is allowing us to get back to normal life. If the fields are closed, as they are currently, then we cannot practice nor play games.

 

As we get closer to the April 13^th date, the Board of Directors will put together some options for scheduling out the rest of the season. There are a lot of scenarios that we can put in place, including adding another game each week, extending the season into June, eliminating playoffs from Single-A and above and just crowning a season champion etc. When we are able to make this decision, we will definitely take into consideration factors like prearranged summer vacations, summer tournaments teams and All Stars, as well as what the schools are planning to do near the end of May and into June.  There is not a lot that we can do right now with all of the uncertainty, but we can plan ahead and run through the different possibilities so we are ready to play as soon as we can. 

 

Our next full Board of Directors meeting is currently scheduled for Wednesday April 8^th at 7pm. Location is still to be determined, but as with all of our Board Meetings, any and all parents are welcome to attend. We will make sure to send out the meeting details once they are finalized.

 

Please don’t forget about your access to the Big Al website and the at-home drills and games you and your kids can do until the season starts back up again.  You received an email on March 14 with login and registration information, and as a reminder, the cost for this was included with your registration so there is no additional cost to you to access these tools.
